This event will provide you with an overview of the UK policy and regulatory environment for international education that you will need to understand if you are preparing for your first interactions with the UK student visa system. 

The Home office will give an introduction to the policies and procedures which relate to recruiting international students. Experienced compliance professionals will share their experiences of embedding a compliance culture in an educational institution and how each of their roles contribute to effective compliance. A leading specialist in UK immigration law will provide practical information to help institutions obtain and maintain a sponsor licence.

This session considers:

  • How Study UK and AoC support members with student visa policy and compliance.
  • The different policy and regulatory considerations of recruiting EU and non-EU students
  • The appropriate UK visa routes for students on short-term and longer programmes of study
  • Assessing the fees status of EU students and understanding eligibility for financial support
  • The embedding of a culture of compliance and effective risk management and its wider impact on an educational institution
  • The responsibilities associated with holding a Tier 4 licence
  • The key decision of whether or not to sponsor an international student
