Student Orientation Programme

This half-day interactive workshop, jointly hosted by Study UK and Brave the Rage, will look how you can provide your students with the knowledge and skills to make the most of their time in education at your institution, as well as offering them useful life skills for years to come.

Session content:

  • Learning the step by step ‘Peer Mentor’ programme
  • Understanding cultural boundaries
  • Quiz Time: Challenging pre-conceptions
  • Respect, attitudes, values and beliefs
  • Legislation and the UK Law
  • Personal wellbeing and practical living
  • Healthy lifestyle including diet, exercise, personal safety and managing vices
  • Confidence and assertiveness building tools and techniques
  • Friendships vs. relationships

Session format:
An interactive workshop format, with best practice case studies and role-plays.  There will be plenty of time for discussion and questions. 

This session is suitable for:
Any staff working in teaching, admissions or student services.

About the trainer:
Brave the Rage Trainer Julie K Wilkinson has over 20 years’ experience working with young people on issues related to bullying and wellbeing.  She is qualified in mediation and conflict resolution.  Julie has worked for Kidscape as an Anti Bullying Coordinator for England, and is currently Vice Chair of Children England.
