Student Mental Health

3rd December 2015 – London

This half-day interactive workshop, jointly hosted by Study UK and Brave the Rage, will help you to identify students that may be struggling with their mental health and those in need of additional support, develop your questioning and listening skills, stamp out bullying and provide you with resources to better support your vulnerable students.

Session content:

  • Mental health and unsafe practices
  • Self harm and substance misuse
  • Vulnerability: signs and symptoms
  • Cultural boundaries: equality and diversity
  • Understanding challenging behaviour, feelings and emotions
  • Acceptance, loss, bereavement and mental health
  • Best practice guidelines: intervention and prevention
  • Questioning and listening tools: group case study
  • Brave the Rage Bully Defence Tools

Session format:
An interactive workshop format, with best practice case studies and role-plays.  There will be plenty of time for discussion and questions. 

This session is suitable for:
Any staff working in teaching or student services.

About the trainer:
Brave the Rage Trainer Julie K Wilkinson has over 20 years’ experience working with young people on issues related to bullying and wellbeing.  She is qualified in mediation and conflict resolution.  Julie has worked for Kidscape as an Anti Bullying Coordinator for England, and is currently Vice Chair of Children England.
