Effective management for enhancing quality

Managers have a crucial role to play in ensuring the quality of an independent college’s curriculum, teaching and learning outcomes. This half-day workshop will equip managers with new ideas for providing effective leadership at their institution and a renewed focus on the positive impact that management can have on enhancing academic quality.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • set up a management structure with recognised expectations for management at different levels
  • recognise effective management of courses and curriculum
  • provide leadership
  • manage effective curriculum teams
  • use standard performance management techniques with students
  • get your way as a manager!

This session is suitable for 
Principals, college leaders, senior and middle-range academic managers across a wide curriculum range.

About the trainer
Paul McGregor is currently a Lead Inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate, a Reporting Inspector for the British Accreditation Council and a Reviewer for the Quality Assurance Agency. He has worked extensively in universities and colleges in the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States and has been employed to advise on curriculum management, quality in teaching and learning and leadership and management in over 40 institutions. He has extensive experience of inspecting independent colleges, having led over 200 inspections. He has also himself established an independent college in the UK on behalf of overseas investors. Paul has been a Principal in three independent colleges and has led these colleges to successful outcomes for Ofsted inspections in all cases.
