Data Protection Law

24 February – London

Education providers handle large amounts of personal data, whether or students, applicants or staff.  Handling the data in accordance with legal obligations is essential and failure to take these responsibilities seriously can lead to financial penalties and reputational and business damage.

In this interactive session, lawyers from Penningtons Manches will consider the following issues:

  • What is personal data
  • What obligations does the data controller have
  • What parts of the business will this affect: where are there risks?
  • Data protection policies
  • Retention policies
  • Developments in the law to watch out for
  • Dealing efficiently and calmly with Subject Access Requests
  • Training strategies and policies for reducing the risk of having to disclose unwelcome material
