Lansdowne College Sixth form and tutorial colleges

At Lansdowne College we aim to instil a love in learning in our students and prepare them for life beyond school. We take time to understand what motivates them and believe that all students should be encouraged to excel.

Our comprehensive range of A-level, GCSE and Foundation courses, and expert teaching, provides students with the best possible learning environment. Most students join us straight from GCSEs for a two year A-level course, and 95% of Lansdowne students go to university. We achieve this by combining expert teachers, small class sizes and extra-curricular support.

We actively encourage our students to pursue their own interests, inside and outside of the curriculum. Each student has an individual timetable specifically designed to meet their academic needs and our teachers help them manage their time and to prioritise, giving them the self-confidence and independence required at university and beyond.

Lansdowne offers a lively and diverse extra-curricular programme that is often pupil-led. This ranges from the Duke of Edinburgh awards, outdoor pursuits like football and rugby, debating, photography, drama, table tennis, rock climbing and street dance.

If you don’t achieve the A-level results you hope for, don’t panic! You are not alone and, with the dedicated Retake Courses available at Lansdowne College, help is at hand.

We don’t believe that you should have to accept a place at a university just to get onto a degree course which requires lower grades, when you know you are capable of higher achievement. If you are confident you can improve on your results, then one of our Retake Courses might be the right choice for you.

The teachers at Lansdowne College use a distinctive style of programme designed to promote self-motivation, based on intensive revision, regular exam preparation and practice, small classes and dedicated university guidance. The success of this method speaks for itself, with the majority of students achieving grades from A* to B to get on the university course of their choice.
