INTO Queen's University Belfast International foundation year programmes

Located in the heart of the Queen's campus, INTO Queen's University Belfast combines exceptional learning facilities with highly qualified teachers and dedicated support. Offering both English language courses and Academic pathway preparation, upon successful course completion, international students can progress to degree programmes at Queen's University Belfast and other UK universities.

INTO Queen's programmes offer progression to an exceptional university: Queen's is ranked in the top 1% of universities in the world (QS World University Rankings 2015), 8th in the UK for research intensity (Research Excellence Framework 2015) and is 12th in the UK for student satisfaction (Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2015). 94% of Queen's graduates are in employment or further study within six months of graduation (HESA Destination of leavers from Higher Education 2013).

English for University Study

English for University study is a full time course focusing on academic English and study skills you need to succeed on your INTO academic programme or university degree. With multiple start dates, the course develops reading, writing, listening and speaking English language skills. Developing the confidence of international students, the course also helps students adapt to university-style teaching, learn the necessary research skills for university and improve their overall English in order to successfully study at a UK university.

The course comprises of 20 hours of taught lessons per week plus one hour of directed private study with a personal tutor. After successful completion of the programme and having the academic requirements, students can progress to their chosen undergraduate or postgraduate degree at university. Pre-sessional English

The Pre-sessional English course provides a short and intensive preparation in English for students who are already academically qualified and due to start an undergraduate degree programme at Queen's University Belfast.

Providing high quality English lessons, the course provides a short but intensive programme which is accepted by Queen's University for students who hold a conditional offer. The course helps you to study independently, focus on subject-related work and improve the core skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing within a university context.

Start dates are in June, July and August and the course length is 4, 6 or 10 weeks depending on the individual needs of a student. International Foundation in Architecture

The International Foundation in Architecture combines academic modules specific with English language preparation for progression to year one at university. Students who wish to progress to Architecture do not require a portfolio upon entry to the Foundation in Architecture and can create their portfolio for university during their Foundation. With 21 hours of teaching, students can progress to an undergraduate degree at Queen's University Belfast upon successful completion. There is also the option to study an Extended International Foundation, offering additional English language for students who do not meet the requirements for the three term programme.

Architecture at Queen's is ranked 5th in the UK and 1st for student satisfaction.

With 20 hours per week of teaching, students will also meet with a personal tutor for a weekly, hour long tutorial. International Foundation in Business, Humanities and Social Sciences

The International Foundation in Business, Humanities and Social Science provides students with a combination of academic modules and English language to help prepare international students for progression to the first year of their chosen undergraduate degree programme at Queen's University Belfast and other UK universities. Business at Queen's University is ranked in the top 20 in the UK (Times and Sunday Times Complete University Guide 2016). There is also the option to study an Extended International Foundation, offering additional English language for students who do not meet the requirements for the three term programme.

With 20 hours of teaching per week, students will also meet with their Advisor of Studies for an individual lessons for one hour per week. Start dates are April, June, September and January.

International Foundation in Engineering and Science

The International Foundation in Engineering and Science is a combination of academic modules and English language preparation to year one of a degree at Queen's University Belfast and other UK universities. Upon successful completion, the Foundation in Engineering offers progression to year one of over 45 undergraduate degree programmes at Queen's University Belfast alone. Engineering at Queen's is consistently ranked in the top 20 in the UK. There is also the option to study an Extended International Foundation, offering additional English language for students who do not meet the requirements for the three term programme.

International Year One in Accounting

The International Year One in Accounting combines academic modules with English language preparation. Successful completion offers progression to the second year of an undergraduate degree at Queen's University Belfast. Accounting and Finance at Queen's is ranked 3rd in the UK. There is also the option to study an Extended International Foundation, offering additional English language for students who do not meet the requirements for the three term programme.

International Year One in Engineering

The International Year One combines academic modules with English language preparation. Engineering is offered in five streams; Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. There is also the option to study an Extended International Foundation, offering additional English language for students who do not meet the requirements for the three term programme.

International Year One in Management and Finance

The International Year One in Management and Finance combines academic study modules with English for academic purposes. Upon successful completion, students can progress to the second year of an undergraduate degree at Queen's University Belfast. The Management School at Queen's is ranked 13th out of 101 business schools in the Research Excellence Framework.
