FIE: Foundation for International Education Study abroad programmes

FIE, a London-based non-profit educational organization, provides customized partnership programs and individual student enrollment programs in London, Dublin, and Amman for undergraduates. We offer academic coursework across many disciplines, academic internships, and customized faculty-led programming.

Since establishing in 1998, the Foundation for International Education (FIE) has set new high standards in delivering academic programs abroad. We are a forward-thinking organization with a mission that expresses our passionate belief in the value of international education. The secret of our success lies in our ability to provide exceptional experiences for each and every student. We achieve this through a combination of three essential ingredients: the expertise and commitment of our team, the quality and depth of our support facilities and resources, and the value we place on maintaining the highest levels of service in every aspect of our operation.

FIE's specialized academic programs allow visiting students to maximize the value of their stay, gaining theoretical knowledge, practical skills, life experience and an international perspective. Our innovation in areas such as internships, service learning and international research ensure that students have the most thorough and integrated study abroad experience possible.

FIE London Study and Internship Program

The London Study and Internship Program includes coursework and an academic internship, and we offer summer, semester and quarter dates. An international internship at FIE is a pre-professional, field-based experience coupled with coursework. It is a fantastic way for students to experience working life in England, and to refine their future career goals and strengthen their resume. The study and intern program is available for the fall and spring semester (15.5 weeks in length), or with lighter coursework during winter quarter or summer (eight weeks in length). Credit is granted through our School of Record, Drexel University, for both coursework and internship. FIE assists students with applying for the Tier 4 Visa, required of all students pursuing an internship in England.

Our placements are of exceptional quality and span a wide range of professional fields. Our Experiential Education team works with each individual student individually to ensure a good fit, and works with their site supervisor to help facilitate a positive experience. Students complete an FIE key course in British Life and Cultures in addition to the International Internship course, which includes the internship placement. In the semester and quarter formats, students may choose up to four additional electives from a broad range of disciplines, taught by FIE's world-renowned faculty.

FIE Dublin Summer Program

FIE's Dublin summer program is an incredible way to spend 5.5 weeks studying, exploring, and travelling in Ireland. The program offers students the opportunity to gain an understanding of Ireland across a broad spectrum of study and experience. Students complete two courses during the program: 1) An Insight into Irish History, Politics and Literature and 2) Irish Culture and Society. The program includes two co-curricular field excursions to Northern Ireland and Southwest Ireland to contextualize and deepen the experience. Also included are living accommodation in shared apartments in central Dublin, a full calendar of weekly extra-curricular activities, and an amazing staff available around the clock to support the group throughout the program.

FIE: Peace & Conflict Resolution in the Middle East & Beyond

Offered in cooperation with AMIDEAST, FIE's six-week Summer Program in Peace and Conflict Resolution will bring you to three of the world's most interesting capital cities: London, Belfast and Amman. The program begins in London with the course The Life Cycle of Peace and Conflict: Lessons Learned in Northern Ireland. The class uses Northern Ireland as a case study for exploring how those peace and conflict theories translate to Middle Eastern issues. A study tour to Belfast contextualizes the case study.

After two weeks spent in the UK the group leaves for Amman to begin their second course, Conflict Resolution and Management: Beyond the Arab-Israeli Conflict. This course will address the impact of cultural and societal factors on conflict resolution and management, focusing on case studies across the Middle Eastern region. Housing for this portion of the program is with host families. There is an optional four week Arabic language program extension in Amman.
